Original Penguin was initially founded in 1955 by Munsingwear, an underwear and military supplies company based in the USA. Original Penguin fast became a symbol of ’suburban leisure’ after releasing a revolutionary new golf shirt, featuring extra material on the underarm to avoid ripping while swinging the golf club enthusiastically. This new design golf shirt called “the 1955″ took the golfing world by storm and established the Original Penguin logo in sporting history.

Original Penguin has had a star studded following including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Richard Nixon, Bob Hope and Arnold Palmer. Today, Original Penguin can be found in many well known department stores in the US and is taking the UK by storm.
