Farrell is the debut clothing collection from Robbie Williams, which was first unveiled during the 2011 London Fashion Week. Although the singer is better known within his role as a musician, this up-and-coming menswear label has certainly gone some way to establishing Williams’ place within the world of fashion.
Despite the fact that the first Farrell collection features a number of pieces which seemingly reflect Williams’ own debonair style, the range was in fact inspired by his grandfather, Jack Farrell. Affectionately known by Williams as ‘Jack the Giant Killer’, the Farrell brand aims to reflect his suave sense of style, whilst retaining an air of bold masculinity. The label also incorporates influences from other areas of Williams’ heritage, with the distinctive Stafford knot providing Farrell with a somewhat iconic brand emblem, as well as alluding to the collection’s inherently British design.
Farrell seeks to offer a modern twist on classic attire, whilst drawing influence from vintage tailoring. With exceptional attention to detail in both cut and design, this label incorporates key features of heritage style in order to create a look which is relaxed, yet undoubtedly refined. From the woollen duffle coat to the herringbone dinner jacket, the current collection offers a good range of clothing options for the contemporary gentlemen. Also adhering to the Farrell slogan of ‘wear it in, wear it out’ are the selection of vintage-inspired shirts and sweats, as well as flat caps, silk scarves and chunky knitwear, which are all featured within the clothing line.
As a brand, Farrell has consciously avoided creating an ostentatious image, with branding and logos kept hidden inside the majority of items, and emphasis is placed on items being sophisticated, yet comfortable. The menswear label is currently available to purchase from a selected House of Fraser stores and online.
